Default Loctite dry Time

I just installed my ring gear bolts with red loctite. Is it necessary to give a full 24 hrs of dry time before installing gear oil to the case? They say set time is 10 minutes. but full cure time is 24 hrs. Was thinking after set time that the oil wouldn't upset the bond? Not planning to run it. Just easier to put oil in with the diff with it on the ground than in the car. Wanted to install the diff today, but put loctite on bolts last night. Your thoughts?

Any time, any project, any material that requires a "cure time" for full strength, just ask yourself this:

Which is easier?
Waiting for cure time?
Or doing the job all over again?

do you have a parade you have to be in today and your daughter is going to be sitting on the back deck waving to her adoring fans? that is about the only situation under which not waiting is justified.

A great article on how locktite works and how to apply it. It cures, "dries," in the absence of air and the presence of iron, steel, or copper. Other metals like stainless, aluminum, magnesium needr a surface application...a primer.

That's a great link, I feel like I'm an expert on thread lockers now. I'm not being sarcastic, either.

I work with loctite pretty much every day, ifvyou were using blue loctite in that situation i agree wait 24 hours but red loctite you should be good to go after about 4-6 hours. Remember with the red if you need to get those bolts out again you better have access to alot of heat,
