Default choke thermostat question

I bought new choke thermostat for my Qjet but noticed when installed the spring was pulling down. My carb needs the spring to push the rod up.

Do most Qjets need rod to go up to open choke or all they all different depending on make and model?

When you installed the choke spring and the spring was pulling the choke rod down was the engine cold? If this is what you experienced than this is correct. When the engine warms up the spring will expand and will push the choke rod up and open the choke.

No, I was talking about when the spring is heated up it pulls rod down. I found a Service Manual that shows 6 different configurations in 69 of springs and directions for different carb types and engines so I'm sure they gave me the wrong one. THX
