Differential
I am replacing transmission. Transmission and drive shaft are out, but wheels will not turn all the way around. They turn in both directions to about the same spot, but won’t turn any further. Am I missing something?
Car was not running when I got it, but it would roll freely in neutral?

If the rear half shafts are not horizontal, the U joints will bind and prevent movement. Raise the trailing arms with a jack and or jack stand and see if there is a difference. Jerry

Be careful raising the suspension with a jack while on a lift. You can upset the balance of the car on the lift and really ruin your day. Make sure you have another jack on the opposite end of the car counteracting your suspension lift.
