Forgive me if this weird to ask, I've only had this Corvette for about three months, I have got a lot done but I'm still learning about this car, yes I have googled but I have read so many different things it's a little confusing. The RPM gauge works great but the speedometer doesn't even move, some say it's a cable problem (25.00 bucks replace and thats it easy fix) some others say the whole dash needs to come off, I'm also asking because my other gauges are not working as well, I'm including a few pics as you can see, especially in the last pic there is wire adapter that should be plugged into what? Anyway, again forgive me if this is a silly question, but I had to ask.

Reason: error
Your 2nd photo shows the Cruise Control Transducer.
There are 2 cables.
The bottom cable is coming from your transmission
The top cable is going to your speedometer
If you remove the top cable from the transducer jack car up so wheels are off the ground, put in neutral have someone Rotate By Hand you should see FM square end rotate.
If that is rotating it is a good sign the speedo gear in the transmission and cable are good to the transducer.
As far as that unused connector plug it might have something to do with a replacement non computer controlled carburetor.
It's an old car. Take one problem at a time. Your speedo is probably priority.
As above. Does cable to the transducer turn? If yes. check cable from transducer to speedo.
If no, get under car. pull cable from trans. Turn the end that goes into the trans, does the other end turn?
there is a plastic gear that drives the cable. Just in the bullet that the cable mounts to. If the cable rusted up. the plastic gear will also be chewed to bits.
Pulling the dash is something you are going to be doing time and again with these old cars. Get used to it.
As the others have said it's worth trying both cables first. If you do need to remove the speedo then you don't need to remove the whole dash, you can just take out the speedo and rev counter unit as per these instructions from Willcox.
