hey can someone tell me if the original spare would be the same as the rims and tire on the car , or would it be one of those temporary tires with a weird rim ? thanks Bill

In 76 the spare would have been the same size wheel and tire as the other four on the car. The smaller “donut” tire as it’s sometime referred to started in 1978.

My 77 that I bought new has a rally wheel for the spare less the cap and trim rings. My 72 that I bought in 74 has rally’s and a rally spare.

The original spare would have been a GR70x15, either a Firestone Steel Radial 500 or a Goodyear Steelgard. Any other brand or size tire would be a later replacement. In 76 the tires were available in black wall, pin stripe white wall, or white lettered. It would be mounted on a 15x8 "AZ" rally wheel with the AZ code, and date code stamped in the rim near the valve stem hole.

My 77 has a steel wheel for a spare. Aluminium slots on the car. I have to carry a set of lug nuts for the steel wheel. Same size tire. I just threw away the original spare about 3 years ago. Yes I've had the car since Christ was a Corporal.
