Default Removing clock on 69 convertible

I'm having a hard time pulling the radio/gauge cluster out to get to the clock on my 69 because I can't get to the two back studs holding the radio onto the console frame. Shop manual says use a flex drive from side after removing side access panels. I can get a finger up there but can't get a socket on the nut, which I think is a 10-32 nut. Can it be done by removing console cable control & accessing it that way ??

The radio itself is held to the gauge bezel by the ON/OFF and TUNER switches, and one nut on the passengers side. That's all that holds it in. After disconneting these 3 things, you should be able to wiggle the radio out from the passengers side. If you're trying to get to the 2 nuts that hold the gauge bezel to the console, they are a PIA. Can't tell you any tricks other than to keep trying. Might be easier with the radio out first. Chuck

I agree. They're really hard to get at, but it can be done.
I used wing nuts when I put it back together. Hopefully make it easier the next time
