No power to starter

Yes the battery is marked with a big + and a big -. However we are all human.
Sounds like the solenoid "Pull In Windings" are there but once starter gear has meshed the motor contacts in the solenoid have not closed allowing full battery voltage to the starter motor...
Here is a good drawing and explanation of the circuit from the 77 troubleshooting manual.
I added the starter extension harness connector, this added connector on the drawing would also apply to both Auto or Manual transmissions for the 1976 and early 1977.
I have verified the wire colors and circuit numbers are the same used on his 1976.
Thanks all for the help! I've been on the phone with the Doc (4-vettes) over the past week and he gave me some really good direction.
1. Spliced a new wire from ignition switch to S terminal on starter, that got the starter working from the key again.
2. Replaced the battery cables.
3. Added a ground from block to frame on starter side (wasn't one before!)
Now she starts up great!
I did get a new starter, but that wasn't the culprit (handy to have a spare I guess).
Cheers again!
