Default 1981 steering help

.While driving the car I heard a bang like something broke. 100 yards later the car pulled suddenly into the left lane, I could not turn the wheel to straighten it out. With the engine off we were able to force the wheels to the right to straighten them out and get it on the flat bed. This could only be done with the car off, it seems like steering fluid pressure is forcing the wheels to the left. Both wheels are moving together.
Ideas?

Something related to PS control valve but you have to get the front up in the air and look if something broke such as the bracket that holds the steering ram to the frame.

Took you advice put it up on the air.
Problem solved the shop that replaced the control valve neglected to put the cotter pin to hold the castle nut in place on the pitman arm. Lucky to be alive.
