hey friends I want to put a set of white walls on my 72 , and will this size fit on my 8 inch rim 215 75r 15 i want to get rid of the white letters
thanks for the help!!
I like the 225 70R 15, it’s wider and closer to the 27” height of an original tire compared to the 215 75R 15. That tire could be narrow for a 8” wide rim, I like your choice of a white especially a thin white wall.

Huh?
A 215-70-15 has a diameter of 26.9" with a 5.9" sidewall
A 225-70-15 has a diameter of 27.4" with a 6.2" sidewall
Maybe only in CA could 27.4 be closer to 27 than 26.9 LOL

What does California have too do with it, your comment reflects on you as a person. Maybe you should READ a little closer about the tire Bill was asking about.

C6-CYa -- you owe boat196 an apology. He is not spreading misinformation nor should he be insulted about the state he lives in.
The OP's original inquiry was about 215/75R - 15 tires, which have a diameter of 27.6' - 27.7", depending of the manufacturer. As you stated, 225/70R-15's have a diameter of 27.4", which is closer to the 27" as boat196 mentioned in Post #2.
Please reread the OP where he asks about 215/75R - 15 tires, NOT the 215/70R-15 tires you mentioned.
BTW the OEM tire F70-15 for the OP's '72 would have a diameter 26.9" which is the same diameter as a 215/75R-15 tire, hence the logic in the OP's original question.
