I have a 72 coupe. AC/auto
I have a orange wire coming from the firewall underneath the windshield motor.
It’s burnt and looks like it’s been bypassed?
I was working on another 72 and it had the same problem.
Any ideas?
I think only two Orange wires underhood for '72. One goes to the blower motor, the other is part of the fusible link that taps into the Red wire going from the horn relay to the starter solenoid. If I had to guess, I'd say the one you're showing is the starter link.
Yes thanks for that information Greg. I have an orange wire that I have never traced. Mine is cut, running in tape with other wires and ending on the pass side of engine near the firewall, and have an orange wire under the driver's dash that is attached to a toggle switch that is mounted near the left side of the steering column. No I am thinking it might be part of a kill switch setup with the starter. But as the OP stated, everything on mine also works, so...
