It's a numbers matching block, 300hp-385tq, but it's been rebuilt, and has some mods. I don't know much about it, but I know it will haul butt! Yep, my fatherinlaw is a  person to be around. He also has a 41 Chevy streetrod, and a 57 buick station wagon.

The wheels definately do appear to be Ansen Sprint Mags. Everyone was running either those or Cragar S/S in the late 60's. Great looking car, and refreshing to see one so well preserved and cared for. :flag
I saw a very similar car at Carlisle, with license plate, XXX ZL1, where "XXX" was the owner's name, which I can't remember. I love the ZL-1 paint job. That is one of my dream projects, to make a ZL-1 clone, crate 502 would suffice, dont need the ZL-1 engine. :) MJ
