Hi I've been using the HP2 for years now and getting a bit tired of the drone as it creates a rattling effect. I am considering switching to glass packs which I think is a step quieter and without so much drone. The BB is a deeper sounding engine and even with regular Midas mufflers and headers it can be throaty without drones. Is a glass pack essentially what I have now?
dont know if those have any packing at all. not crazy about those in general. as a kid in the 80s maybe
Need a larger case to quiet things down...the straight through types are going to be loud.
Biggest mistake I ever did on previous 74 big block Vette was putting glass pack mufflers in the stock location! What a constant drone they made in the cab. It was only after we went grocery shopping in the Vette and put the bags in the rear that I realized how loud the glass packs were. I couldn't believe how quite it got with just those paper bags back there.
Yes they have some fiber meshing that deadens the sound much more than straight pipe. I'm just getting tired of the drone sound when it locks on to a frequency and makes a humm that resonates until you go faster or slower. I don' mind loud though.

I know Flowmasters are no longer in "Vogue" now but I had the three chamber Flowmasters on my car before I installed side pipes and they had a nice deep tone with no drone. I gave them to my Father in Law and they sounded great on his 383 1970 Charger as well.
