Default PROBLEM WITH HEATER-A/C CONTROLS

im trying to get the bugs out of my heat a/c . is the fresh air intake door located in the passenger side wiper well supposed to close when the a/c is put in MAX(recyle) mode?(green stripe vaccume line) also closing the air inlet valve at passengers feet(orange stripe vaccume line) im trying to determine if i have a bad vaccume selector control valve in the selector switch-- this door slams shut when i apply sorce vaccume to it, so i know the diaphram is working--besides this problem i've noticed that when going to defrost ,the air still comes out of the ***** on the sides and at the floor-telling me these diaphrams are not working or bad vaccume selector - testing vaccume selector today- just wanted to make sure i had the function operation correct .........................thanks--carl

Here is a page outlining the various functions.

Your problem may be the actuator on the side of the center console above the gas pedal. This controls the switch from heater to vent to defrost.

thanks for the web site it helped out- problem was a badCLIMATE CONTROL ROTARY VACCUME SWITCH-9 PORT-$19.95- FOR ONCE IT WAS THE CHEAP WAYOUT!!- made a vaccume jumper out of 1/8'' vaccume hose ans 1/8'' plastic coulpings pulled the vaccume lines off the heater-a/c switch and jumpered 1 at a time,, black is sorce vaccume- .as i jumpered to each different color striped vaccume line the acuator would pull in ---now i know all the acuators work(and thanks i didnt evem know there was one above the gas pedal for defrost/heat mode)-- now all i hope is that once the part is installed- i get good air flow to that function-(say defrost) because the way it was air was going allover the place instead of being directed where i wanted it to go- thanks again-carl--- http://www.geocities.com/carlclub2/
