I'm still putting my 68 back together. I have just about all of the wiring connected (dash, engine bay) When I turn the key on the horn relay is making noise ! So what might be the cause ? The relay ? Pretty sure it's the original but it didn't do it before I took the car apart !

The horn relay makes a noise for the key warning and when the horn is going off....check all your grounds...disconnect the wires gong to it an see which one stops making the noise, then trace it

The horn relay in my ‘68 fried as did the 2 fusible link wires that come off of it. When it was fried it would just click when the horn button was pressed.
I replaced it with a new unit from NAPA and replaced the sections off usable link with new “fusible link wire” keeping it true to its design.
The horn works as it should now and when the key is in the ignition it serves as a key buzzer. Turn the key to “on” and the buzzer stops.
I had purchased the AIM manual which is needed but there are 2 other items that I found indispensable, first a laminated color keyed wiring diagram from Zip Corvette. It is in color, but the exact colors that you’ll find in your car. I also bought it in the larger size which is much easier to read and follow. The other thing is a Chiltons manual. Their manual has wiring diagrams but they are in black and white. What is very important about theirs is they provide the wire gauge size for every wire in the car at where it connects including the fusible link wire gauge which is critical for it to work properly.
Thanks for all of the input guys !!!! This car was a basket case when I got it. I tore it all apart right away. I'm still putting it back together. I wasn't aware of the ignition buzzer because the ignition switch was broken and had to stick a screwdriver in it to start it !!!! I put a new switch in with new keys. The reason I thought something was wrong was because the key was in the ignition when I hooked up the battery and I heard this noise. Pulled the key out and it stopped ! YEAH !!!! I am done with everything from the windshield forward (paint, engine, wiring, vac lines, etc) I haven't started it yet as I don't have the center gauge cluster in yet so the oil line isn't hooked up. Thanks again for all the help......this is my winter project and I'm sure I will need more help !
