Re: Check this out..Demon Vs Quadrajet (theandies)
... Hey I am not knocking the Q-Jet. I still have my numbers matching one packed away in a box

This is my first personal experience with the Demon carb setup, so I can't speak with a lot of authority on your question. But here are some facts:
The quality, workmanship, and attention to detail on the BG (Demon) carb is impressive. There is no question that the carb is built by people who care about quality and who know what they're doing. That says a lot to me. The fact that it ran perfectly (even the idle speed!!) right out of the box says that these boys and girls at BG have done their homework, and they're assembling these carbs with good attention to the details.
I have quite a few friends who race some pretty serious equipment. Every one of them who has switched to the BG carb has been surprised and pleased with a performance improvement.
I have heard a few bad things about the carbs. These carbs are completely modular: everything can be changed out - venturies, boosters, bleeds, jets, on and on.... I think you can easily get yourself into trouble by "over-tuning" one of these. With all the possible combinations of parts, I think you can make one run bad very quickly if you get in over your head. So I would recommend keeping it simple and staying with some basic jet/squirter/PV changes to dial the carb in. Overall, I think BG has a winner with this thing.

Re: Check this out..Demon Vs Quadrajet (ken markusa)
There are alot of 9,10 and 11 seconds Super stockers and Stockers using Q-jets and other so called non performance carbs, they can be made to run with a little work and can be gotten cheap because a lot of people don't want them.
Ken
Well - you can make any carb perform great with the right $$$ and/or tools... If the only thing that you change on both carbs would be jets - there's no way the Q-jet would outperform the Holley...
I wonder what would have happened of Demon would have allowed Lars access to that Quadrajet both for the stock 454 baseline and after the power-adders. My guess: the Q-Jet would have performed as good or better.
Compare any stock carb (no adjustments) and a tuned performance carb and the stock carb will probably lose.
Its expected that an aftermarket carb would outperform a stock one. I would hope so anyway.
I have noticed that this forum tends to focus on mods rather than restoring. Me personally I like having the original equipment. Granted you can get alot better performance but these cars are cool enough anyway.
I think I remember Lars even saying that the Demon makes more power. I could be mistaken, but I remember seeing someone on the forum who compared a few carbs and said the Demon was best.
Quote: I'd put a Lars-tuned QJet up against a Demon any day of the week!
Right, Lars?
Not so Lars was very impressed with his Vacuum secondary Demon installs.
I've said this before. Demons flow above their rated cfm especially in their chokeless versions. that's why they have to run 4-6 jet sizes bigger than the equivolent cfm Holley double pumper.
