I don't recall if the dowel pin(s) on the Corvette crank are oriented such that if the flexplate were flipped the bolts would line up. However, from what I read it's certainly possible on other GM cars. The issue that occurs is that reportedly the starter gear won't engage with the ring as it places the teeth more rearward than what is needed. Seems it would also cause torque converter bolt issues too.
