Okay, I know 17x8 TT D's fit without any spacers. What if I had 17x9.5 on the rear? That would have a 5.5" backspacing. Would it fit without any issue then? I hope there is no problem because I really want these wheels. I'm putting 2" offset trailing arms on so I shouldn't have any clearance issues.
Stick with 5.25 backspacing and you'll be fine. 5.5 is too close to the frame. The advertised 2" extra clearance is :bs because in real life the limiting factor is the frame.
Here's how my 10" wheels with 5.5BS works:
You can see how everything fit inside the wheel, so the leaf spring wont be a problem with this diameter.
The rear sway bar clearence.
This it where it gets tricky, in this pic you see that the front of the tyre is quite close to the frame. But the this pic doesnt tell the whole truth, after we put the body back on, that extra weight lowered it so that it's even closer now about the same as the rear sway bar clearence. We did various test to try the full motion and it didn't hit or rub in any position. But the wheels could stick out more, so I'd say 5.25 BS with 10" would be perfect. With 9.5"s you can go with even less.
