Well, at the very least you will need to paint the bumper cover. Factory is urethane. Then there is flexible fibreglass and ridged fibreglass.
all will need fitting and painting.
None will fit without work.

True statement. I just replaced mine with the urethane cover. It turned out ok, but if I had to do it again I would go with fiberglass replacement. They both have to be tweaked for fit and painted, but fiberglass won't get brittle in 30-40 years.

Welcome to the Corvette Forum 1969dartswinger340!

You came to the right place to find answers regarding a Corvette. You will find many other owners of the same year Corvette as you are working on here on the Forum and they should provide many answers to your query. The problem you mention in your post is not an unusual one as there are a lot of Corvettes with the Urethane covers. If it were my car I would want the flexibility because of the location.

That job sounds like it will require some good body shop skills/experience and some automotive painting experience. The problems with matching older faded paints is a tough one. (Especially for people like me who are color blind....) Take the car to a good high quality Automotive Paint mixer and have them do a color match. They can get it as close as possible. For my C3 they used some tool that takes an image of the paint and then told them how to make a perfect match. With a air compressor you might be able to paint the bumper cover yourself using a Harbor Freight HVLP paint gun.

I have found people who will come to your home and do the repairs and even light painting. That option might help you as they have lower overhead costs.

Another option might be to paint it Flat Black and let it appear like a black rubber part.
