Could someone tell me the bolt size and length for the guide adjustment bolt, the guy that put the cam in used another bolt, that I noticed doesn’t fit,and I think he might of strip the threads on the generator it self, but want to get the correct bolt first,is it metric or standard.
Yes, it's a 5/16-18 (coarse) thread bolt. If the threads are stripped in the alternator hole, it's an easy fix with a Heli Coil repair insert. The couple of times I've replaced my alternator in 35 years, that's the first thing I do to the new one, just because.
if you can find one, a 1960s vintage seat mounting bolt will be a good fit. Those have a pointed end to make starting the threads easier.
The only "metric" parts on my 1968 C3 are the parts inside the aftermarket Stereo head Unit.
Which manual refers to the Alternator as a Generator? There is a BIG difference between a Generator and an Alternator.
If the mechanic was able to replace your Camshaft how come he can't install the alternator properly? I would go over the re-assembly of the front of your engine to verify that it was re-assembled properly. I saw a loose nut from the mechanical fan come loose and punch a hole in the radiator and you don't want to make any extra work for yourself.
My Corvette parts book refers to all years as generators, even for my 1973. You are right, for latter model Corvettes they were AC producing alternators, with a rectifier to change to DC. Rather strange.
