I have had my my car about 15-16 years and PS Control valve number 5 is leaking. I keep getting rebuilt ones from zip and get matbe 3-4 years on them.. Last one is about 2 years old. I shattered my wrist and the car sat up on my lift for about 6 months, Finally able to drive it again and the pump was empty. Sure enough the control valve is leaking
Anyone have long term luck with theres? Debating replacing everything with a borgenson box as I am tired of this.
Never had much trouble with leaking after I learned to be very careful when greasing it. It really doesn't need much greasing and when you do, one shot is enough. Too much grease will blow the seal.
it’s a crap shoot like calipers and master cylinders now. I had 2 calipers leak luckily under warranty but still…and one i rebuilt with o rings no issue and one mixed caliper side to side probably the old days of cheap rebuilds still going strong and on before they got the car.
many testimonials and advice are from a time gone by..even napa in many cases.. OE still seemsto be good like ac delco OE ONLY…
Last one I got was in 2004 from O'Reilly of all places. Haven had a moment's trouble with it.
Sorry to hear about your shattered wrist. Did that to myself 5 years ago and it can take a year to get full functionality back if you had it fixed by surgery.
Most likely the valve is a Lone Star valve
Mr Abbot usually responds to any reference to ZIP which other vendors don’t do so maybe you can get an answer
Vette Brakes used to test their rebuilt valves before selling them. I doubt anyone is doing that today.
New valves were typically better than the rebuilt ones but if the original one was available many times they can be rebuilt and better than the those that might have been rebuilt several times
HI guys I had my 70 for 20 years now when I received the. car I put a new 1 in and its. still good maybe im just lucky the only thing is when you buy. a new 1 you. have to give them a gm I back
IT was not a rebuilt. kit it was a gm Brann new 1 I purchased it at a corvette shop. in MA a long time. ago for around $150.00 plus I had too give them my. old. 1 they don't. sell. parts anymore. just paint and body
Purchased a New valve made by Lone Star and it hasn’t leak a drop in 5 years. I didn’t want to pay a shop to replace a rebuilt valve multiple times, so I bought a new one. So far it’s the only thing on my 73 SB that does leak.

I bought mine from Lonestar. Haven't had it that long. But they got great reviews. We'll see. Just a suggestion. They may build them for summit.
