Help. I ripped out the carpet in my 74. (SEATS ARE OUT TOO) I am now installing the new stuff. Ya know how the lap belt comes down over your shoulder, that part I got. It's how the seatbelt goes through the carpet on the floor section. Not the part were it buckles but the other side. The part by the sill plate. Any help, advice or even picture would be such a beautiful thing. Plz Help me.
thanks anyway, mine looked like that, I am up to the carpet install. I think I got mopst of it, I just can't figure out how the seatbelt section on the floor goes between the sill plate & the carpet.
You are a little ahead of the answer. Cars and Parts is doing an article on installing carpeting but they are only up to the installation of the rear in the last issue. I expect to rest to be in next issue. I have seen some other Corvette mags articles on the subject but have never seen the area you are asking about. When I replaced my carpet back in 95 I didn't know how it was suppose to go either. All I had to go by was what a previous owner had done. He had just cut a slot in the carpet between the seat and the sill and pulled the seat belt up through it.
HUm, I appreciate the offer. Is the old carpet still in the car? If it is that would be great. I need a close up of the seatbelt coming through the carpet at the rear of the seat corner.
thanks

THANKS SO MUCH TO ALL OF YOU.. The pictures were a help. I actually did the old slit thing. It worked just fine. That must be the way GM did it anyway. I had pulled the carpet out a few months ago & did nt think to take a picture of that section first. If I knew how to post pictures to the forum, I would put a few up there. Installing carpet is not fun. But slowly & surely it's getting ther....
I forgot what I paid, but I did alot of research. I bought it from Wilcox.
800-588-3883 For what ever reason, they are the cheapest & offer great service. I've bought a ton of stuff from them. Ask for Ronnie, tell him Mark sent ya.
Good Luck,

I just looked at mine, 74 also. Original carpet is still in place. At the location you are talking about, there is supposed to be a large black abs plastic section that goes over the carpet and provides a slot for the seatbelt. Similar to the pics above from a 69, but the piece in mine looks larger and stiffer, the slot on mine isn't warped.
Take a look in your AIM and you can see a drawing of the part.
