Default What is this cord for

Was working on a sticky door lock and when I removed the electric door selonoid I found a wire that is not attached to anything.

Any ideas where this goes and what it's used for?

I don't see any alarm keys or switches anywhere so I'm assuming it didn't come with an alarm. If not would they just leave the wires there like that on the original installation?

It was stock on the corvettes from 72 onward. The system turned on when you locked the drivers door with the key. Check that link I posted and it shows how the alarm was just sort of added to the door lock cylinder.
The alarm was tripped off the existing door ajar switches at the rear of the doors and I believe on yours it was also tied into the t-tops using a set of switches built into the rear latches where the t-top pin goes into the receiver.
The horn should (I believe) be up inside the rear fender just behind the drivers rear tire, (I think they were still there)

The horn on the 81 was up inside the drivers fender near the firewall by the looks of it and it ran off the front courtesy light switches in the doors not the rears

Mooser last photo above shows item #1 as the switch.
Late 1977 on used that same switch.
Can't say what wire colors were used in 81 but late 1977 they were Yellow & Lt. Blue.
