I recently replaced the power window switches in my 82. While reassembling the trim and what not, I see this wire just hanging there, not connected. Can someone please help me identify where this wire is supposed to be connected to? It's currently on the driver's side, very near the cigarette lighter.
It looks like the clip that goes on the cigarette lighter housing for power. On my car, it comes off every time I do anything to that console. Needs to be clipped back on before you lower the console, but can get knocked off very easily. And then almost impossible to put back on without removing the console again.
I'm looking at the wiring schematics for my '80, and the only component that has a single wire is the cigar lighter.
And, looking at the pics the OP posted, it looks like the cigar lighter is within reach of the wire/connector, and there isn't anything connected to it.
The wire is Brown and does seem to be an east reach to the lighter.
According to the wire diagram, it looks like its a wire to the A/C Heat SW .. I guess I'll be pulling the trim .. again.
Thanks everyone.

In that case, I'd guess Tan, or Tan/Black is the color, based on the stripe. Perhaps it goes to the TCC controller (sic, from the wiring diagram), to control torque converter lockup? I think only 82s and perhaps 81s had that feature.
In this photo is a brown wire, and a tan wire. Only my phone can tell the difference between black and brown in a dim garage.
Looks like this one, the one in the lower left. Don't remember what it connects to. It might be for an option you don't have. This is my 79, it has power window, AC, rear window deice and power locks, no cruise.

Thanks for the input. I have a 82 Collectors Edition, so I believe I have most options. That wire is on the opposite side, of the one shown up above, which is like mine. It is thinner as well, with a connector
