Default W/P Belt question

How many of you have used the Dayco 15315 belt on your 69 427 water pump to crank pulley. After quite a fight, I finally got this belt on and it is so tight that I'm afraid my water pump is going to pay the price.
The belt that came off was the original gm3952336 and was still in fair condition. I'm considering putting it back on. So I just want to find out if anyone else has used this Dayco belt with no issues. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure what brand or # belt I have on my '69 427, but I do remember that it was so tight that I had to remove one of the pulleys to get it on. It would not slip over the pulley lip.

It'll likely stretch a bit and be just fine. Since there's no ability to adjust the tension on it, it's certainly a tight fit (and fight) when brand new. Try measuring the deflection between the two pulley's and then allowing it to run for a bit - like at least 20-30 minutes. Remeasure the deflection - I bet it's greater than before and will continue to stretch and seat into the grooves a bit.

Did a little cross referencing and the dayco 15315 is suppose to be the same length as the gm 3952336. 32.07 inches so I'm going to go with it and hope it works out. Thanks for all the replies from everyone.
