How do you install the smaller belt?
I carry an extra alternator belt in the car just in case as I do not have a water pump to crank belt on my car. Seems like there should be one right? Car does not have AC, power steering or any other pullies/belts present. How do you install the smaller belt....do you disassemble one of the pullies or just force it on or? Thanks in advance for any input.
I found it easier to mount the upper pulley on the shaft with the four pump hub nuts loose but remove the crank pulley. There's no shaft on the crank to have to get it over and it's easier to just slightly rotate the belt to get the crank bolts to line up. A slight prying is easy if you need a touch more belt length.
Once the correct length is determined......stick a #1 long thin screwdriver through one of the pulley holes and then through the hole on the pump drive flange......pull up on it to stretch the belt over the shaft.....easy peasey....
