It has become very frustrating to locate a proper 1971 454 W/A clutch. Mine is toast and the one which was just delivered from a major corvette supplier was wrong. Checked the listing and it appears correct however mine is a 3/4” pilot and the one that is advertised is the small one with narrow bolt pattern.

Hello Sqr. You might want to look at the RockAuto website. They list a few for your car and some do give the size pilot hole along with other specs. Good luck.
Thanks guys for the suggestions. On another note I am concerned about the shaft length which could affect the fan orientation with the shroud.
I have the original spike fan which has the fins very close the the rim of the shroud opening. The picture shows another aftermarket clutch which made the fan hit the shroud.
If there is a specific reason that you want a clutch fan (for originality, or whatever), good luck with your search. In addition to RockAuto, the ACDelco website is sometimes helpful for finding specific part numbers to cross-reference. Consider also that failing engine mounts can cause shroud misalignment.
If you just want to drive your car, and are handy with electronics, you can piece together an electric fan setup from all-new parts for less than $200-.
When it comes to general non Corvette specific parts I try to stay away from the Corvette vendors and Rock Auto is my go-to place for a first look. If I can get the same part at my local FLAPS I will give them a shot.

Do you have a fabricated shroud on the top? Looks like it's too close to the fan.
That was an old picture where the shroud was hit by the previous owner. I have a replacement OEM shroud but it remains close. I am going to remove the OEM motor mount shims to drop the engine down.
How early is your 71 the last known 71 with Yellow emission Decal was VIN #1914
it appears to have signs of being late early from the sticker, no chrome valve covers, conical back up light lenses, the rubber insert pattern on the original carpet and the 70 date on the SAE markings on all of the light lenses. I am note sure what else I can look for other then the serial number which appear to be in that date range.
You should be able to see the VIN in the corner of your windshield, and a partial VIN is stamped on the engine pad below the AC compressor.
The first 71 has VIN 194671S100001
Without posting the full VIN, you could tell us if the last 6 digits are greater, or less than, 101914. Is your engine not original? Perhaps I missed that part.

most listings are void of these critical specs.
If your fan clutch is original and is toast you can have it rebuilt
If however you don't have an original maybe I can help you out. I need to know the assembly date of your engine or the final assembly date of your car. It is on the drivers inside piller
I have several original fan clutches but just getting the proper date if that is important to you

If you want it as original as possible, I recommend talking with Mike at America's Finest Corvettes - https://www.corvetteusa.com/ Always great help, top notch products, not necessarily 'cheap', but you'll only wince once. Best, Paul
