I bought my 68 in pieces and most of the interior in boxes. I am checking/repairing the center gauges outside of the car and am unsure what button/light is correct for this car. Im not building concourse but want to match the wiring up to what is supposed to be there. I bought a few 69-77 gauge clusters for parts, and dont know what is supposed to be in there.
The top left square areas have a circuit board and light on the back panel. on the front bezel the top part of the box is open (for a lens?), and the bottom part has a button that says PUSH. The right side box has 2 openings. The lens that I have covers both spots, the upper reads and the bottom says . Is this a 68 part? Was there a low fuel light on 68's or do I have a later year part?
Lastly, my Doc wiring diagram doesnt seem to have wiring going to seat belts?

that is the correct bezel cover but incorrect lens on the bezel bracket...68 didnt have low fuel or wires to tell you you are in the seat. That seat belt light is controlled by an electro-magnetic switch, you push in the button to turn out the light and the electro magnet holds the switch off, when you shut off the motor the magnet release the switch and the process repeats
If you wish to modify the bezel put that 68 one away and get a 69 or later one and hack that up. THose 68 bezels are a 1 year only part and expensive to find a real one
the only difference is the pebble finish on the surface of the bezel and the extra light places being open
77 gauge cluster:
The 77 uses a PCB board.
Wire size feeding PCB except the clock is 18 gauge from the 10 amp Gauges fuse.
The clock is part of the Clock/Courtesy/LTR 20 amp fuse circuit and requires a 14 gauge wire.
Your Low fuel light lens is incorrect for a 1977, the low fuel light (Part of a option package) for a 77 is the top hole, lower hole is for the GEN light.
Using a AMP gauge will require a larger gauge wire vs, using a volt gauge like whats used in the 77 cluster.
77 Cluster: Light comes on with about 3 gallons of fuel remaining in tank.

Early 68s just had the seatbelt on the left and door ajar on the right....later 68 had an additional wiper override light to let you know it was engaged. If left engaged it would kill the battery thats why it was added
So while you are doing this your override it a rotary **** under the dash, swap it for a on off toggle switch...it will save aggravation when your battery is dead or your wipers arent working
FYI from a rookie...make sure you install the correct insulator washers/etc on the tthreaded terminals that are on the back of some gauges to keep the gauge from shorting out on the metal case the gauges bolt to.
It is best to take a close-up picture of the back of the case before removing the gauge(s).

1st off, thank you everyone for the replies!
I wish it were in better shape, the top part is broken off and I do not have the missing part. I am going to use a 69+ bezel for now, its hardly a show car. I'll be fortunate if I get it back on the road.
I'd like to keep the double lens shield, and find a "low oil" lens to cut into that size. I have my mechanical gauge installed but also had a warning light sender so I added it too. was going to wire up a light just in case, they get my attention more especially at night. hope I find something in the junkyard to use.
That seatbelt light must be the one that lights up when i turn my key to on. i thought it was for the ignition but its too big to plug into the hole.

Yes it will light as soon as the key comes on but it should half twist right into the back versus push in like the rest.....i dont remember if the ignition is push in or twist
Does that 'PUSH' button come out easily or does it have a tendency to break? I only have the one in the 68 bezel, need to move it to a 69 bezel that isnt broken but if they often break when removing I'll just look for another online.

I would look online...its one of the spring steel clips and its on 58 plus year old plastic...they break
That is a rare early 68 door ajar / low fuel filter. If you look there is no hole for a light bulb in the backing plate. The first version of the 68 sales brochure has the low fuel light mentioned and also a plastic gas tank. Both never happened and they reissued the second version of the 68 sales brochure. Lou.
