Attention all Corvetteforum members ... we have been challenged to a road course racing event being held at Thunderhill Park on February 9th by the River City Corvette Club of Sacramento,
Not one other northern or central California C-3 wants to go? Where are all the BSP auto-xers. 3 mile road course and nothing to hit with nice flat run off areas.
Ive decided on the two day deal. So I can brush up on Sat. when they run the track backwards and be ready to compete for the forum on Sunday.
George- I have the same problem when autocross in the Northwest. Very few C3 autocrossers. Sorry I can't make it. Sounds like a great time. Christmas put a huge dent in my checking account. BTW, Your Shark is lookin great.
Dan
Dan - I just figure that you can never get time back and you can always make more money in the future. I don't need a sack full of money when I'm to old to enjoy it:) That's why I also travel now. I always see these people that can barely walk climbing in and out of motor homes
Hey Goerge. Unfortunately my 'vert isn't legal yet without a roll bar. I should have that in this year, as soon as I find a decent used hatch that I can cut slots in. I'll be there to cheer you guys on, though. My brother belongs to RCCC with his '98, so he'll be there as well. Should be a hoot.
ED - Most every event I go to is C-5's. It's funny to talk to C-4 people who also feel like second class citizens. I just say, "join the crowd you did that to me for years before."
There are some serious c-5 racers. But I would just like to blow away some modified Z06's going down the long straight sections and get some good lap times.
I'm taking it into the shop tonight to get it all lowered. I have 1 inch spacers under the front 550 springs which raise the front @ 1 1/2 inches. For the front tires i was going to put some sticky 40 series in 275 or 285 width

George-:iagree: Now how to convince the wife?
Dan
Wrencher - i'd like to meet up with your brother there. I'm spending the night and taking extra sets of performance friction pads and I already have nearly all new rotors and calipers
Shock - I paid for the two day deal so Sat. we will be doing the course clock wise and for the forum contest counter clockwise. They kind of want you to buy a transponder. But I'm going to see if it's really worth joining their association first. I need to just buy a beater vette and do the full race deal and keep mine for trips and fun.
I ran my car at Sears Point on several occasions and that place scares me. One momement of brain fade on your part or somebody elses or equipment failure and your car is trashed because your next to guard rails most of the time
Sounds cool. I'd like to make the drive up there, but not sure if my car is ok for beating (trailing arms iffy). I'll see if I can get a couple days off at work.
Is there a designated motel/bar for CF members?
Tracy - The track north of Las Vegas is much closer to you. Maybe we can meet up in May. This event is more bang for the buck and the May weather will still be less than 90 degrees. Let's even pray for a cold spell of high 70's. That will give you plenty of time for a simple roll bar and better belt system. Smokedtires has a nice setup like you would need. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=473008
That sounds like a better idea. I would actually like to race my car. I think the motor's up to it. I was planning on installing a 4 pt bar a while ago, I'll check it out again.
Besides the roll bar and seat belt, any other safety mod requirements while I'm at it?
Tracy - Get on their web sight and find out the rules. These Northern tracks racing associations are very liberal. Just a 4 point bar, 3 point belts, and Snell 95 or 2000 helmet. I was surprised about not requiring a full SFI fire suite or fire system.
It's kind of a run what you brung without lots of rules.

Brutus - I was watching the V-8 Super Car series from down your way and those seem like some bad butt machines. I need to hop on a plane down your way. I saw an ad for flight and nice hotel for 7 days for $2400
