Hello, new to owning a C3. My next step with this car is the brakes. They work but almost to the floor and they're super soft. So far I've replaced the master cylinder, and replaced one rear caliper that was clearly shot. There is still not much of a stopping difference. Any info on what I should do next is appreciated.
And for what it's worth, these Vette brake pedals may travel quite low. Just the way they are.
You can get four empty water bottles and four clear hoses, then open all four rear bleeders. Let them drip - drip - drip for an hour or more. Monitor the master fluid level. Don't touch the pedal.
And sometimes you just have to invest in a pressure bleader. Push from the top. DON'T use a vacuum type bleeder that almost every shop uses. (As does the shop I work for). Vacuum type or suck bleeders and lip seals don't go well together.
think Motive Pressure bleeder with a custom made lid and clamp. Not the chains.
Get, or make, a pressure bleeder. You can search the forum for home-built pressure bleeders. I made my own because I didn't wanna wait for one to arrive (figured I'd replace it later) and it works so well that I never replaced it.
