The origin engin in my 427 from 1969 is replaced by a blueprint 496 cu.in
Been told that the left handside exhaustmainfold Is very closed to the heat dampners unit placed upon the probably the firewall (1or 2 mm) and that is a firehazard
i was thinking of buying new mainfolds ,and when i looked them up i noticed the 427 and 454 mainfolds are the same or they can replace eachother. Now im not sure if buying new mainfolds will resolve the problem.
According to my mechanic buying new one will adress the issue hence the lefthandside mainfold will be lower than the one i have
do the mainfolds on each side have a different in between (form, lowered or tilted)
how big of the fire hazard are we talking about here
actually the main question for me is that if there is a shape differenc in between 227 and 454 exhaustmainfold, which could resolve this problem.

To the best of my knowledge, the passenger side is the same from 68-74 BB vettes of any size
The drivers side changed in 70 (with the 454) and the exit is more straight down where the earlier were kicked to the outside more
