Gentlemen and Ladies
I have read a few posts about this issue of the courtesy/clock fuse blowing and I’m knee deep in that. I have the radio and sub disconnected, I have replaced the door jam posts that control the dome light, I replaced the dome light, I currently have my center console out and am searching for wires that are rubbing, I have removed the inside of the doors looking for bare wires.
I will be continuing the search this weekend any additional ideas would be appreciated.
You can save some fuses with a test light. Pull the fuse and check for a closed circuit across the fuse clips. Then one by one start disconnecting things until the test light goes out. You'll find your short circuit then.
Do you have a year correct wiring schematic? Be extra sure you have the door light door switches wired correctly, and that the tiny clip attachments on the switches are secure. If your year Corvette has the courtesy light delay timer, it should be inspected and tested, they tend to cause problems.
