Hey All,
The Vette is a 1970, small block, 4-speed, A/C.
I bought a complete exhaust system from Corvette Central that included Patriot shorty headers and a full 2-1/2" exhaust system that goes out the back. The problem is that the alternator brackets that Corvette Central supplied moves the alternator away from the engine such that the stock overhead adjustment bracket doesn't line up.
Can someone please post some pictures of how you installed your alternator with shorty headers?
Thanks,
John
When mounted to the water pump, the geometry is wrong and the alternator can't rotate to tighten the belt.

Here you go. You have holes in the head so go find bracket 3951337: Look on ebay ...they were used on a lots of GM vehicles. look around - don't overpay for the first one you see

definitely go to that 70s alternator bracket. They used that on everything including trucks. You used to be able to find them everywhere. Stay aaaway from anything that mounts to your header flange...not only does it look like crap but it will loosen up with the heat cycles

I had the same issue with my 70 when I put on headers. A 72 and up lower bracket solved the problem. Put a "want to buy" for one on the parts thread. I'm sure somebody has one laying around.
believe me or not I have a 70 small. block and purchase a big block cast iron bracket that bolts right to those 2 holes on your head corvette central sells it it look like it fit my smalll bock so I took a chance and it fit like it was supposed to and I have shouters check it out it looks original
