Default Another Super T10 question

Pretty sure I know the answer, but here goes: Recently rebuilt my Super T10 with upgraded parts; torque lock sliders, 5speeds rebuild kit, Richmond billet mid plate and bearing retainer, as well as a McLeod Super Street Pro clutch kit and Speedway 168t 20lbs flywheel.. Everything seems to be working great, other than what seems like input shaft bearing noise (a chattering sound) when the car is in gear. When I initially put the front bearing retainer on, it locked up the transmission. I took it off, and found a thread stating that running two gaskets would solve the issue, and it did...by hand. I also watched Paul C's Muncie video talking about having a thinner and thicker gasket, so I figured two would do the trick.

Anyhow, my questions are as follows;

Should I pull the transmission and put another gasket behind the retainer?
Does anyone know what clearance I should see between the retainer and the bearing in thousandths?
Am I just worrying about this noise needlessly? I don't recall this level of noise before I pulled the trans, but that doesn't mean it wasn't there.
Most online information says this indicates a bad bearing, but I'm pretty sure the clearance is my issue...if there's any issue at all. Just not sure why I couldn't feel it on the bench.

Thanks.

Front gland nut on backwards or too tight? I would ask Paul if I were in your shoes.

Paul here...
I see you didn't get the retainer or midplate from me. Unless it was under another name. The retainers have clearance issues. Stacking gaskets is not the correct solution. Richmond resolved the issue and has created a new beautiful forged piece that works fine. Although this is not a Muncie, checking clearance as per my Muncie video works fine. Keep in mind that regardless if you are in gear or in neutral the input is always turning.... so "in gear only" doesn't really make sense. However, I'm not a fan of light weight flywheels. These can cause harmonic issues and low rpm and idle conditions based on idle speed and if you have a heavily cammed car.

Correct, I did not get those from you. You were out of stock the front bearing retainers, and probably the mid as well. These were both sold as Richmond parts elsewhere, and I definitely paid more than I wanted to for them.

Sounds like the correct way to address it is to remove the retainer and clearance in on the lathe. I will poke around further, to see if I've overlooked something. As always, thanks for your response!

I guess I should've followed up on this. Ends up, the clutch return spring was broken, letting the TO bearing ride on the pressure plate.

Am currently breaking the trans in. It runs and shifts amazing. I appreciate all of the help on this forum, as well as YouTube.
