My radiator developed several leaks and there was more and more coolant on the garage floor after every drive. My mechanic is installing a new all aluminum DeWittes radiator.
I had my radiator rebuilt by a radiator shop . I developed pin hole leaks. Electrolysis . The radiator wasn't grounded to the frame ground.. Big time electrostatic charge equals quickened corrosion ' The ground wire [black] plugs into the rad. frame but doesn't get attached the radiator
The new radiator is in and the engine is running much cooler. This was after driving on the highway for a 1/2 hour with the A/C on. The red line is typically where the temp ran. You can also see the new fan clutch. I’m looking forward to driving in the heat of August.
Very nice..
couple thoughts..are you sure there is a thermostat in there? It looks pretty low.
you may want to add a seal on the sides in front of radiator to help direct air.

My mechanic put a 160 degree thermostat in because I reported overheating in the summer months and hard starts after extended driving.
Cool..may want 180f but if heater works what the heck. A lower thermostat seems odd for hot running car.
if you fill this gap it will help draw air through radiator
