Anyone have a picture or pictures at various angles of one of these MSD distributors
I'm curious about converting to this but also keeping the mechanical tach, please don't try to talk me into a electronic tach = I like what I like, simple as that.
If you want that distributor, you cannot keep the mechanical tach. Period. You must get a tach drive distributor. Perhaps that distributor is available with the tach drive option.
Dual Sync is designed for EFI systems only. All it does is provide cam and crank signals to the EFI system. The EFI system determines timing and triggers the spark, usually via an aftermarket box such as MSD-6.
MSD makes a tach drive distributor.......but the idiots at Holley won't convert it to the ready to run style so are forced to use a spark box......
I had one on my 66' 327 and it worked great....but the unit is like $600 now......
Holley could probably sell about 10X more tach drive units if it was converted to Ready to Run.......there was even a guy here on the forum who had a prototype of a Ready to Run tach drive which proves MSD/Holley has considered it.....and it would cost them squat to make it......
Holley is a bonehead company......whoever does their marketing and product line selection is like in the 8th grade.......Last year they discontinued the Classic 750HP, simply THE BEST carb they make.....and replaced it with the Street HP.....well a LOT of people (including me) screamed and it is back in stock......

Yes I understand that I actually asked a completely different question.
I already have the MSD 8572 mechanical tach vacuum advance distributor & MSD 6AL box.
What I'm looking for is how to pick up a cam signal for sequential operation.
Just stumbled across another thread & someone mentioned using a belt drive & bolting a wheel on front of cam gear, sounds like a simple solution.
Just so happens I have a RCD Engineering belt drive I bought many years ago.

I just found my solution I believe = run a belt drive for timing & bolt a trigger to the front of it, I'm thinking this is the direction I'm headed

I didn't say I wanted THAT distributor I asked if anyone had pictures of the inside / guts of it.
I already have the distributor & 6AL control box. I was looking for solution & now have it thanks to such a simple idea.
Now to make a few phone calls now.
