Default 73 gauge cluster adjustment

See pics. Cluster screws out, radio right side bracket out, putty knife slid under cluster. Can't slide cluster over console. If there were studs at console bottom they are broken off. I can slide passenger side cluster bottom over console but can't budge driver side.

Am I missing something obvious?

Tks. DRC

On mine there are studs attached to the bottom of the cluster. To install the cluster, lean the cluster away from the dash and place the studs in the console holes first then lean in the cluster.

my studs missing, but i can't slip the bottom of cluster over console on driver side. Don't know what can be in the way. I can lift the cluster above the console but driver side bottom of cluster somehow stuck.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but are you trying to remove it with the radio still attached to the cluster? Maybe that would work but I’ve always removed the radio ***** and nuts behind them and left the radio in place.

Normally you need to pull the top of the cluster out and sort of roll it towards the rear and then the bottom will come forward a tiny amount and then up. Carefull, they break really easy at the thin spot

Save yourself some broken parts, simply remove the console. There are numerous posts with pictures and step by step procedures.

On my 73 I have to pull the top out first then lift up. I loosen the dash pad donut lifts a bit making it a piece of cake.
