I need to replace the original damaged side post battery terminal bolts for my 1972 Corvette. I am not sure which GM (ACDelco) part is appropriate for this model year: GM #1234949, GM #19115561, GM #8905400, or whatever part. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, BTD
Is there a difference between oem and the many aftermarkets that are available?
-Some are longer bolts to facilitate adding accessory terminals under the battery cable.
-In addition some of the aftermarket bolts in the OEM length aren't threaded as far down on the shaft which usually isn't a problem, but on some batteries you can't get them to seat tight to the cable which can lead to stripping of the battery threads if you attempt to strong-arm it.
Thank you for the information. Please excuse my delayed response: my laptop was down and out for the past two days. Just curious, but which part number would be in the aim for very early 1972's? 8917444? If so, I believe it cross references with gm #19115561 which I can purchase locally at any auto parts supplier. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks again.
