My dream car = 70 challenger r/t s/e 440 six pack. Pearl white with a white vinal top. Black interior and a pistol grip shifter. 2 inch rear fender flares and some big ol tires in the back. :) And yes, I WILL have this car eventually. And its gonna WILL run low 11's n/a. :)
69 pacecar camaro went for 49,000 and im now kicking myself in the **** for selling mine. :mad
I found the commentary amusing. Seemed to me they were very confused about "Official Pace Car" meaning that very car actually served as the Indy pace car at the actual Indy 500 race in 1969 (I dont think so!) or if it was one of the many (how many?) official pace car replicas produced by Chevy that year. I dont know about 1969, but more recently I believe the actual pace car on the Indy race track is slightly modified vs the many replicas produced for sale to the general public.
They also commented several times about how Barrett Jackson screens the cars and almost (but not quite) guarantees the authenticity of the cars.... and I keep thinking about that 65 vette 425 hp car that went for $125k last year and everybody in the corvette community (INCLUDING PROTEAM ON THEIR WEBSITE) was shaking their head because the vin# was too early to have that engine! (I might have the details slightly off... ) MJ
Oh man, I was glued to the TV watching that auction :D
What beautiful machines... Will try to catch some later today as well.
For anyone interested, there is the Atlantic City show, Feb 20 thru Feb 23.
I will be there on Sunday 2/23.
Usually see some very nice cars go for auction. It's always fun to sit in the
audience and watch. But, remember, if you watch and dont plan on bidding,
DO NOT raise your hand!! :bb
