OEM Steering Box Color 76'
I could not find a thread on this so help if you can. I have the steering box out for a rebuild. Can anyone tell me the correct color? It appears to have a light bronze color as I remove the grease stains. I have seen many pics on here of the b ox being painted black.

Bronze sounds close to correct after 47 years with a light hint of rust. I recently rebuilt mine. I painted it black as most do for protection from the elements.
The factory didn't care that much. It was just raw cast. I still had yellow letter markings on mine. That was the only paint on it under years of oil and grunge.
