I dropped a box of parts off at the powder coat shop and the owner told me he was hesitant to coat the windshield wiper transmission arms because he was concerned the oven heat would damage the internal parts.
When I picked up the parts he gave me a can of Cardinal paint that he said was a perfect match for the black semi gloss powder coat he did my other parts in.
He said it was extremely tough.
I was wondering if anyone else has any experience with this paint and how you like the results.
I don't know anything about that paint, but if a powdercoater you trust to do the other parts says it's a match I'd believe him. Personally, for parts like wiper connecting rods(and hood hinges on older cars) I tend to parkerize them like the factory did. Phosphoric Acid(Klean Strip concrete and metal prep) and steel wool from the local hardware store, some Manganese Dioxide from E-bay and a hot plate will get it done.
The paint is produced by the powder coat manufacturer as a touch up paint and is what the powder coater uses.
He suggested spraying several light coats because he said it sprays on translucent and you need several light coats for the color to come through.
I do plan to use it, but was wondering if anyone else had and was looking for their input on use and how it has held up over time.
Thanks Everyone.
I don't know anything about that paint. Consider using a two part epoxy paint. It comes in one can. You press a button on the can and it mixes the paint in the can. It really should be used shortly after you mix it up. Jerry
