Alternator Identification
cannot find any manafacturers name on the alternator, very hard to read the numbers but here is what I can see:
top row of numbers is 110248, it looks like there are additional numbers or letters after that but I can’t read them.
second row: 7L30-12VNE
not having much luck searching either numbers in association with the word ‘Alternator’
from the looks of the wiring it appears the previous owner has bypassed the 4 prong female plug that is supposed
to plug into the bottom of the voltage regulator.
charging system does work fine as well as ammeter in console so I’m trying to understand what they did
and why they did it before I set about to bring the components back to original.
thoughts?
1102481 63A (for 63 amp)
Second line reads:
7L30-12VNEG (which is the date code 1967 December 30, 12 volt, negative ground
I don't seem to have a listing for the original application, but I'll keep looking.
Cheers, Greg

OK, looks like the 481 was a regular work horse alternator used on Pontiac A,B,F & G platforms, 350, 400 & 455 without air conditioning up to around 1975. It could have been used in other GM lines as well.
A body- GTO, LeMans, etc.
B body- Full size Bonneville, Catalina, etc.
F body Firebird, Trans Am, etc.
G body- Grand Prix

It could be a 1102480 61 amp, 1102481 65 amp, 1102482 55 amp, 1102483 37 amp or a 1102484 42 amp Delco alternator.
I think the 11024xx numbers were first used in 75 (at least on Corvettes), but the back plate on that alt is a 63-72 Delco 10DN style back, not the 10SI back a 1102xxx series alternator would have used. Rebuilders often swap parts around so it may be a 78 alt assembled in Dec. 77 using an earlier back, or it could be a 68 alt assembled in 67, but I think Delco alt part numbers were in the 1100xxx range in 1968.
The amperage will be in the numbers below the bolt, behind the part number.
