Check Mean Greens pictures... My 69 is in his rear view mirror a couple of times. :jester We had a great time.. There were quite a few c-3's and c-4's. Even a few 1's and 2's.

I don't find that to be the case for the most part. I've met a buch of great people with any generation. I've owned corvettes for 30 years and met a lot of friends. :grouphug:

Its a sheer numbers thing. There are more C5's on the road than anything. else. A lot of the C3's are gone, either crashed or under restoration. I personally haven't driven mine in almost five years because I have been rebuilding it.

It's just economics. The parts guys want to sell to the most possible, so they maintain a 5-10 year sliding forward scale and stock accordingly. This hit me between the eyes a year ago when I ran to a large junk yard to get a part for a friends '90 Camary and the owner said "why would I have any cars over 10 years old on my lot, nobody keeps their cars that long".

The show venders are the same way, and like said, our old girls don't like extra long trips anyway.

The forum biased towards Corvettes! It's also biased towards American cars.

As for biased towards C5s? It's simply a demographics thing. Nothing to say that they are trying to shun C3s.

Hey, they're all good. I wouldn't give-up either car right now, unless of course, someone offers me a '59 dual-quad 4speed car for my '69.

I guess I'm a exception to that. My 18 year old daughter is driving the Gran Prix I bought 8 months before she was born. when I get my '74 coupe finished I want to find a'71 - '73 vert to redo.

I am like that too. I put over 150,000 miles at least on every thing I own. I think most of us here are in the same boat, we maintain and keep them longer than the norm, but we are still a minority number compared to the total owners out there. My dad just sold me his '97 S10 custom pickup for 1/2 it's value, so I am going to sell my '95 Nissan with 191,555 miles on it to my daugther to drive to work.

From what I have seen here in the sort time I have been on CF, C3 owners tend to do a lot of their own work and spend a lot of their time fixing basic systems. A lot of us own C3s beause they are more affordable. C4, 5s are newer and have all the reliability of the new designs. Owners of those cars have less to repair and maintenance and spend their money on custom aftermarket stuff which has a wider market. I have seen the same phenomenon with Harleys. All the catalogs cater to the new bikes with less emphasis on the bolts and nuts guys who own the old bikes. As far as pictures and features go I suppose it is up to us to record the events and post them. C4, 5 owners have an advantage here as well. they can spent time on collecting and posting photos rather than finding the open in old wiring harnesses and such

You think you get the short end? Try owning a Crossfire!

You made your bed... :jester i actually saw a article where they got over 400hp out of a crossfire C4 without screwing with computer or intake. i believe they did an RV cam, ported the heads, and did headers.
I for one love the older Vettes. I know many people don't consider the Crossfires to be the best engines ... but they sure look different, which is kinda cool. Over 400hp ... holy crap ... that's cool. I wish i had the cash for that.

Anyway ... whenever I see Vettes, it's like ... "Look, how cool, look at that beautiful car, glad i have one." When I see one of the older Vettes ... it goes something like "Holy !@$##@%, look at that car ... Then all my friends watch it drive away. I've only seen one c2 on the road ... and one c1. The times I see the older Vettes, the ones older than mine, are the best part of the day. I think the c5's are beautiful, they have the new technology that the older cars don't ... but ... well you know. I've asked myself what i should get in a year ... c5, or c3 ... the unanimous decision from me and my car friends ... 1969 Shark ...

I really like your C4 WEB, i really like late model vettes that are set apart from the croud. that paint scheme looks awsome. if you would have told me your were going to paint it like that, i would have done one of these  but it looks awesome. i would have eaten my words.

I like all the C4s and C5s that stray from the croud. like Iceman's, MrKln's and a few others that i have forgotten the CF names, but you get the idea. and thats my only beef with the forum. i always see C5s that arent anything out of the ordinary (corvette wise) i still like thier car, but it dosent stand out to me. id rather see a bone stock NCRS C3/C2/C1 because they are 100 times as rare.

ive seen 3 or 4 C2s on the road, 2 C1s 20-30 C3s and i dont know how many C4s/C5s. The 2 C1s i saw were awesome. A bright orange one hauling butt down the road topless () and a red one that was being babied. my friend's dad is currently restoring his 61 from being a former Drag car. He has a built 283 for it thats putting out some 360hp.

No way. I could never tire of looking at any Corvette. If it not for the large number of C4/C5’s, this forum would not exist.

I think C5 vettes are cool (never even been in one though). I don't know if I could bring myself to fork over that kind of dough. The local shows in my neck of the woods (except for the Ecklers Reunion) that showcase vettes are almost always solely C5's. I would enter mine but it's not nice enough...yet.

Still, the C5 vettes are very cool and I may change my mind completely and be shelling out the $$ if I ever get to drive one!

My favorite Corvette is always the one that's in my garage at the time. The '65 vert is new to me, so I'm driving it on most days as I get to know the car. And it's a lot of fun!

But a '73 coupe was my first Corvette and my daily driver for 25 years and I miss that car now that I'm several years removed from the aggravation of work that is required when you put 240,000 miles on a car and want to keep it looking good and running good.

I drove a '94 for several years and really liked it. I currently have a C5 and can honestly say it is the best engineered and best running Corvette I have ever owned.

But anybody with a some cash or good credit can buy a new Corvette. Not everybody has the dedication it takes to own and operate an older Corvette.

Not everybody with a C5 understands and appreciates the important role played by the owners and protectors of older Corvettes. But I think most of them admire the earlier generations when they see them.

Members of our Corvette family are not all created equal in terms of their understanding and knowledge of the cars we drive. But they are all members of the family!
