Default Differential Clutch Pack Purchase

Anybody deal with Alcantar's Performance (www.alcantargears.com) or use their clutch packs? On their site they advertise clutch packs for $95 and USA made.

Ordered a shim pack from Tom's Differentials based on recommendations. What a pleasure to deal with! Extremely helpful and friendly.

Then why not buy the clutch pack from Tom's?

Eaton clutches have been on/off back order since Covid hit, if Tom's didn't have them then they are probably on back order again. That's why I buy 6-8 sets at a time. You can find fiber, solids, and even the junk snowflakes being sold today. Sounds like you're price shopping, be careful you don't get the wrong parts. There are more clutches per set with the solid over the fiber. One lasts a very long time, the other starts wearing out on the first turn of the posi. Setup textbook or tuned? Can't tune fiber clutches.

I'm going to try and tune and staying away from fiber and snowflakes. I'm OK paying up but saw their site with a US made product and then saw the price was pretty low. Of course that gave me pause so wondered if others dealt with them. I' going to pull the case out of the second diff and mic the clutches to see if they still have life. Where do you go for clutches if Tom's is out? Thanks for the assist.

If you have solid steels, the clutches should measure 068-069", if under 068 and shiny I wouldn't reuse them. I always install new clutches but some out there don't or use the snowflakes still. Other charge more and push the fibers.
I deal with Tom's on parts but also have wholesaler suppliers I buy individual parts from and build my own kits. I don't post my resources, and for good reason.
Good luck tuning the posi, if you do it right it will outperform any new or rebuilt spring loaded posi. If you don't it will act as an open diff or break.
