Default Renegade Manifold Alert!

Hello to all the CFI owners. CFI OWNERS BEWARE! I was called today by a customer that said he ordered and paid for a Renegade intake manifold from Eckler's corvette. I find that IMPOSSIBLE since I personally pulled ALL our tooling for that manifold from Eddie Motorsports back in early 2019. I looked at Eckler's corvette site today and indeed they are selling the manifold and called them. They (customer sales) said they were for sale and drop shipped from Eddie Motorsports in Cali. I proceeded to tell him that that is MY tooling and Eddie Motorsports should not be selling anything with our name on it for any reason. I called Eddie Motorsports today to verify any sales, but they are closed.

I WILL be calling them in the morning to find out if they are indeed making our manifold some how without our permission. If so, my attorney will get involved quickly. I want to think that Eckler's is selling something they do not have and their site is totally wrong and out of date for whatever the reason.

Ecklers doesnt stock a lot of what they resell they dropship from suppliers... I ordered a fiberglass CAI for the underside of my hood from them 2 years ago and cancelled my order 7 months later before it ever shipped.

UPDATE! I finally got a hold of EMS in Cali and asked about the Renegade manifold and if they were stocking or selling the manifold. The sales guy was a little shocked and said that they haven't had that manifold for sale since 2019...Good call EMS, you are correct. Then I told them that Eckler's was saying the Renegade is in stock and being drop shipped by EMS. The sales rep looked it up and there was a pause and then a huh?! Sure enough, Eckler's shows it in stock online and being drop shipped from EMS.. He said that they were going to call them and tell them that this is not true. I will take that with a grain of salt for sure. The real funny part is when the sales rep told me the story of our company (not knowing who I was) and made this crazy *** story up about us and why the Renegade was stopped being produced. I just laughed...

So, the FACT is, if you have paid money to Eckler's for a Renegade that is NOT available, please call them ASAP and get a refund started. I hope that anyone that did this used a credit card to make the refund go easier and just stop payment on the card as a fraudulent sale which is what they are doing. I will be contacting the my customers about this that called me tog give them the correct information concerning this.

Any info about the Renegade to become available again WILL be posted in my Blog on my site which WILL be the official notification on the subject.

UPDATE as of today: There has been some movement with the manifold recently. As most of you 82 CFI owners know I've been looking everywhere for a foundry to pour the tooling. I found one and it looks like I will be doing some test pours. However, then came the shock that my machinist retired. So I've been looking everywhere for that phase of the project. I did talk with a shop in TX that sounds promising and will be talking with them again next week. So, I am making a little headway, but I'm waiting for the next stumbling block to pop up on this project. Crossing my fingers at the moment and we shall see how this goes. Moore later as it transpires.

Best of luck with the Renegade! I hope to be one of the first on the list.

I might “need” one of these at some point. Somehow I convinced myself I need an 82 Vette … I’d like to have one of these for when I get “the itch”

question, will the stock manifold lid work with this? A little more stock/stealth looking.

I’ll watch this thread for updates!

Thanks, but no, the stock top plate will not work with the Renegade.

is this a newer casting or the same aftermarket crossfire manifold that had a waiting list of people like 15-20 years ago and the company said they were pulling production negotiations because they refused to have them cast overseas?

I remember many threads about an aftermarket intake made of unobtainium when I had my 84 crossfire but I sold that about 15 years ago only that one took preorders and had many threads about people who had been waiting a long time.

same manifold. much easier than trying to port the grossly restricted OEM CFI one

Yes and no. Yes the SY1 was modded by a few people back around 2000 - 2006 with limited success from some. It takes a lot of modding to get it configured for a CF motor to run properly. plus the manifolds are rare to start out with and cost a small fortune if found in usable condition. Can it be done, yes. Is it easy to do and can be done cheaply, no, and the results were all over the map. I know a guy here in the valley that has two SY-1's, but won't let them go. He also has an 63, 69, 81 and 82.

To answer another question that was thrown out there, the Renegade started to be an idea on the drawing board...actually a napkin sketch while at a margarita pool party back in 2007 with a bunch of local 82 owners and evolved over the years until actually produced by DCS. This was when the XRam manifold was just starting to become available and wasn't worth a ****. The Renegade outperforms the XRam hands down.

We pulled the tooling from a Cali company because they couldn't machine the manifold correctly and had all kinds of manufacturing issues. I even heard from customers that the Cali company was blaming us for pour tooling. What a laugh that was/is. The tooling when they received it had only a couple hundred pours at that point and was like new. I got fed up with the lack of quality from that company and drove to Cali and picked up all the tooling with a former company partner and a friend of mine. We NEVER thought about taking the manifold outside of the country for any reason to be manufactured, its not gonna happen. It says on the manifold MADE IN USA. If that doesn't happen, then the manifold will not be made, period.

Most people have no idea what is involved to get things made like a manifold and the process involved in all of that. It is not easy and goes slowly unless you want to throw crazy money at it to move it along faster. I guess if it was easy, everyone would be doing it, right? I have had people that wanted to purchase the tooling over the years, but money talks and BS walks. I only except serious inquiry's on that subject, not people that are fishing for a freebee.
