Default LT1 swap, 4l60 vs 4l60e

I'm working on swapping a '93 LT1 and 4l60 transmission into my '79 Corvette. While looking at aftermarket harnesses I noticed all of them reference the 4l60e transmission. It was a lack of knowledge on my part, I purchased the engine and transmission without realizing the difference that e makes. However it has set me back a bit as I'm no longer certain about half the information I've gathered.

So my question is this: Should I consider purchasing a 4l60e transmission and sell off the 4l60? Or could a 4l60 be used without much consequence?

4L60E with a aftermarket ECM to control it , you can adjust shift points full throttle, adjust Lockup Torque Converter and just have a better transmission. If you go 4L70 you can use the TCC to split gears because the Lockup clutch inside the Converter is way more durable than a 700 , 4L60e and 4L65E , below is the Controller I would use

The LT1 PCM to use is the 94-95. The 94 4L60e is a 1-year only transmission without the PWM solenoid for the TCC. The 95 is also a 1-year only transmission with a specific downshift solenoid.

I run a LT1 with the PCM flashed for a 95 and it runs a 96 4L60e. It has worked fine for me, but some people say this can't work.

You can use the 4L60...it is a 700r4......same trans. Just pay carefull attention to your throttle valve cable...it is the lifeline of these transmissions......

The 4l60(700r4) will work fine if you use a harness meant for a stick car. Only a switch and relay are needed to manually control the torque converter lockup.

Heed Jebby's advice about the TV cable though. I know a few people that fried fresh 700r4 and 200-4r rebuilds because they screwed up the adjustment at install.

Since you are already putting electronics on the engine the e transmission opens up so much for shift curve tuning it's way better to use. Don't like the shifting curve or TCC lockup - just change it in the tune.
