Throw out bearing noise
73 with new Tremec TKX 5 sd trans, new McCleod clutch, new clutch fork, new throw out bearing.
What could I have done wrong to get a bunch of noise from the throw out bearing?

Bearing might not be in the fork right. Adjustment could be off. How did you adjust it? What is your free play? If you can hear it, it's not right.
Did you use an eccentric (egg shaped) bearing collar style? If you did, where did you put the egg-shaped part?
Look into the bellhousing fork hole and take a picture?

My best guess is. You don't have the bearing in the fork correctly.
But I'm not looking at it.
noisey? Pull it back apart and inspect.

You don't have it preloaded do you? There needs to be a little endplay when the clutch is released.

I will have to pull the trans and start over. I did not make any adjustments when first installed and it sounds like I should have. Thanks.

Don't do that....just adjust the rod out a little and see if it changes......the fork should have a little play when the pedal is all the way up.....

It is really common to install the release bearing in the fork incorrectly. It seems intuitive that the spring on the fork should go outside the flange on the release bearing. It does not. It goes inside the groove in the bearing. I can't count the number of times I've seem this done incorrectly.

I tried to adjust the clutch pedal out, but the noise is still there. I will have to pull the trans and take a look. Thanks
