Automatic or Standard transmission?

Automatic transmissions have their usefullness.....that is why we bought a minivan!! :D :reddevil

Everyday Driving - Manual Transmission
Obviously, an automatic is better for the 1/4 mile....but it's just not fun. I can't see myself ever putting an automatic in my car. The closest I'll ever get to an automatic would be a Jerico clutchless 4 speed :).
So as you can see I prefer standard transmissions.
after ive gone thru the gears, the fun factor goes from a 10 to a 7... :yesnod:

except for one thing...
no offense to the auto owners out there, but for me...
i wouldnt have bought an auto no matter how good the deal was...

my 3000GT is an auto and i shift the heck out of it...
and it IS fun too!
but theres nuthin like a 4 speed with a clutch...for me, that is...
(i drive an Oldsmobile Aurora as a driver tho ..)
anyway...to each his own...thats whats so wonderful about this life...we're not all the same...
i knew a guy once that told me "there is no bad music or good music...
its ALL bad or good to someone...we are all diferent...
Since I got my driving license I drove with stick all the time, until my father bought his 95 C4 with a TH700R4.
I agree that shifting is part of the fun and keeps you active, but on the other hand a manual tranny is a little bit out of date. All new supersport and race cars have no clutch anymore. The use clutchless trannies and shift at the steering wheel (Ferrari 360 Modena), which gives you faster shifting times and more consistent clutch action. Missshifts are banned, and that´s a big factor when driving at the limit.
So my conclusion is:
A beefed up 4 speed, (5 speed would be even better) auto with a munaul pack and a ratched shifter
That´s as near as you can get to those high tech systems without spending a lot of money. Just my 2 cents.
Double clutching with an occasional heel toe is therapy!

While I would PREFER a stick shift, I OWN an automatic. Arhtritis in both knees prevents me from rowing around in a stick shift in anything but my scooter (I shift with my toes with that). However, the plus side of the auto is no missed shifts ;)
