Hi all,
Can anyone recommend any of the catalog mufflers, you know like zip's or Eckler's. I need to replace mine, and just want to bolt on a good set myself. I have all new SS pipes sitting here. I figured if I could get a set that have the proper mounting tabs, I would'nt have to deal with a muffler guy except for the H-Pipe and couple of welds.
Any recomendations?
Thanks Jon
I'm waiting for my KBD Targa's from Ecklers, once I get them installed, I'm sure I'll be posting my impression on the forum. Probably a little noisier than most people have in mind, but the price is definitely right at $140
Why pay for shipping from the catalogue people? Your local muffler shop shop will have direct-fit Walker replacements. Or can get them in 1-2 days.
A few years ago I ordered an entire exhaust system from Eckler's for a 74BB that I had. (74 BB mufflers are unique.) They sent everthing except one muffler. It was back ordered. A month later I got a letter stating it would be a couple of months before they could ship it. I canceled the order and located one at a M***s Muffler shop. Two years later when I sold the car, the only rusty part on the exhaust was the muffler that I bought locally.
I don't know Paul, I figured the catalogs would have the proper mounting bracket for the screws on the rear hanger. The prices are about equal, and shipping..tax on part.. a little more, a little less. If I could order the Walker Quiet Flows with proper mounting brackets somewhere myself, I probably would.
RU....I was looking at the Borla's, I believe Paul picked up the performance ones on E-Bay. I really don't want it loud, so would like to see what you guys say.
Silver..I was going to get the SS ones from MAD, but it doesn't say who makes them.
Anyway, just looking for a set that fits right, flows good, and not too loud.
My Walkers were installed three years ago by a Canadian chain called Speedy Muffler. Life-time guarantee. They are still in perfect shape. If I do not like the Borlas, those go back on. I share your view: often the parts we require are right under our noses and need not be ordered from speciality catalogues.
The aluminized exhaust and mufflers that come from Allen's custom Exhaust sound throaty but not too loud and everything fit perfect. Lots of corvette places sell them.
