Hello, everyone. I found a rebuilt Rochester Q-Jet carburetor (Part #7029207, date code 2009) on Ebay, and I was wondering if anyone here has any experience buying from Tracy Corvette (seller vettepartsman). This seems like it could be a decent price, and its date code of 2009 (July 19, 1969) would seem to match well with the trim tag build date of August 6, 1969 on my 1969 L46 4-speed. Thoughts? I'm still looking for a 1100884 alternator with a close build date code, but that seems to be a tough find these days. Anyway, I'd appreciate any thoughts you might have about the carb. Thanks.
If your goal is to find a carb made in 1969 I don't believe this would work for you. There were many 7029207 service replacement carbs made through the years after 1969. The easy tell is the triangle shaped portion of the main fuel bowl immediately above the pvc port on the drivers side of the carb. If you simply want a 7029207 carb of any vintage you would be much better off finding a good core and having Lars do a proper rebuild on it. "Rebuilt" and "remanufactured" are kinda scary.

Thanks, Dave. I was under the impression that the "2009" date code meant the 200th day of 1969, or July 19, 1969. Is that not correct? I may go for finding a good core and having it rebuilt, but this one caught my eye since it is so close to my build date. Thanks again for the comments.
The 2009 date code could be the 200th day of 1969, 1979 or ,1989. I don't think AC Delco was making the 7029207 after the mid 90's.
As Dave J pointed out, the triangle shaped port on the front of the carb rules out 1969. Also an assembly line 7029207 will have a broadcast code of DA on the same line as the model number. Service replacements do not have that code. If a 7029207 has the triangle shaped port and the broadcast code you know it's a restamp.

Reason: more info
You did the right thing, asking the forum for input on a potential expensive lesson. There are many more on here that know much more than I about carbs. Do a search on the parts forum here for 7029207. You may also post a WTB there.
Nothing pisses me off more than someone trying to pass off overpriced and restamped stuff to unsuspecting buyers.
I think the ebay listing is being very vague with the date of 2009. Nowhere that I saw in the listing was the explanation of those numbers 2009. Interesting though
is the base is stamped with that looks to be an early 68 date code. Most likely could be an early 68 throttle plate mated to a service replacement body.
Be aware.....
