I sure hate to be a PITA with all my questions but I really appreciate the help!
Do I need to loosen the radiator core support to get the radiator out?
If you have the full width radiator, it sits in a pair of u-shaped channels that are lined with rubber. Sometimes, the rubber sticks to the radiator so check that out and gently apply pressure to disengage it.
Changed mine this past week on a 73 without AC. It has the stock plastic shroud and clutch fan. I did it with the hood on and removed the side bolts of the core support and loosened the two big ones on the bottom. It allows you to lean the support forward a couple inches. If all the original seals ore still in there it’s a pretty snug fit. As previously suggested, those rubber cushions on the lower supports do stick, so some gentle prying may be in order to separate them. If your car is an automatic, be sure to disconnect the cooler lines. Good luck with the shroud.

What year and what size motor....could just be stuck on the seals, could be the lower pins if its a 68 or 69.....if its a big block rocking the core support forward does make it easier to clear everything and to get the shroud off
It was just stuck in the rubber at the bottom. Thanks!
Another question: When putting the Trans cooler lines back in should there be some kind of tape on the threads for sealing?

no, It should be an AN type style seal which would seat on the flange, not in the threads...but that wouldnt account for anybody changing fittings over the years

Thanks. Since I'm putting in a new radiator I'm putting in new fittings as well.
